Plano Homes For Sale

in Collin County,Plano

Plano is noted for its strong business environment and its excellent school system, but maybe more importantly, Plano is consistently designated as a “Best Place to Live” by Money Magazine.  This makes Plano homes for sale a sought after commodity.  Over 80% of the Plano homes for sale have been built in 1990 or later, making Plano a ‘newer’ DFW Metroplex suburb.  And although Plano and Collin County have been hit with their share of foreclosures, from the dot com slow down earlier this decade, to the current real estate market turmoil, Plano homes for sale have appeared to weather the storm.  Being the corporate headquarters for Perot Systems, Crossmark, J C Penney, Frito-Lay and Sterling Software, to name a few, has helped keep the real estate market more stable than some communities.

Although at 1,326 Plano homes have sold in the first six months of the 2009 year, that is still a 32% decrease from 2008.  However, average sales prices and median sales prices are down only 5%, so again, Plano homes for sale have held up well in this economy.  Plano homes for sale are averaging selling for 96% of their list price and the average days on the market for Plano MLS listings are only 65 days, which is actually a 6% decrease in the time on the market from last year.  New Plano MLS listings are also down 21% from one year ago, and with only a 5 month supply of homes currently on the market, and 6 months inventory considered an average market, the scales could be leaning toward the seller’s side in the future with any sort of uptick in the real estate market.
