North Richland Hills Real Estate

in Tarrant County

North Richland Hills real estate is conveniently located northeast of Fort Worth and approximately 12 miles west of DFW International Airport, in Northeast Tarrant County.  North Richland Hills is the third larges city in Tarrant County with a population of over 65,000 residents.  The city limits of North Richland Hills encompass approximately 18.2 square miles of area.

North Richland Hills was initially settled in 1848 when W. S. Peters agreed to bring 600 families to the area in a three year span as part of a land grant.  NRH remained rural for another 100 years until Clarence Jones began to subdivide his 268 acre dairy farm.  When a 1953 annexation vote to join Richland Hills failed, another election was held, and the 268 acres, Jones Farm became incorporated as the City of North Richland Hills.

North Richland Hills real estate has blossomed ever since.  With the annexation of nearby Smithfield, the population has grown from approximately 9,000 residents in 1970 to the present day 65,000 residents.  The majority of North Richland Hills real estate is within the Birdville Independent School District, with an area of the northern city in the Keller ISD and a very small section of the southeastern portion of the city in the HEB ISD.

North Richland Hills is a great place to live, and was designated a Money Magazine top 100 “Best Places to Live” community in 2006.  And NRH is home to one of the largest water parks in the Metroplex, known as NRH2O.
