Westlake real estate is located along Highway 114 in both Denton and Tarrant Counties. The population in 2000 was 207 residents, however the town has grown and as of 2007 the population was estimated to be approximately 700 people. The Westlake area was originally settled in 1847 by Charles and Matilda Medlin and a few other families.
Until recently, Westlake real estate consisted mostly of ranch land. In 1956, Dallas attorney Glen Turner purchased 2,000 acres of land that became known as the Circle T Ranch. In the mid-1970’s, the Circle T Ranch was purchased by Nelson Bunker Hunt and then in 1993 the ranch was purchased by Ross Perot, Jr. When the area incorporated in the the 1950’s, even though Westlake is more south of Grapevine Lake, the name Southlake was already taken by it’s neighbor to the south and east, the home owners took the name of Westlake.
Westlake real estate is served by three independent school districts, Keller ISD, Northwest ISD and Carroll ISD, although many of the residents enroll their children in the highly acclaimed Westlake Academy. All of these schools are highly rated.
Westlake real estate consists mainly of two major subdivisions: Glenwyck Farms and Vaquero. Both of the developments feature estate-like or luxury homes. And yes, the Vaquero development is the home to the famous Vaquero Golf Club, one of the finest country clubs in the Dallas – Fort Worth Metroplex. Westlake is also home to Daimler-Chrysler’s regional offices and Fidelity Investments.
